Wheel-thrown pottery by Shannon Ross

As a potter, I create vessels inspired by the natural world that carry a sense of place and movement.

I draw on my love of the oceans, forests, and deserts to breathe life into my pottery, often finding ways to use this work to deepen connections and develop community with those around me. Recently, I’ve been exploring ways of engaging my pottery, using technology to encourage thoughts on brokenness. Personal health challenges over the last couple of years have led me to spend time thinking about physical pain, disability, and recovery in new ways. These challenges have also changed how I work, encouraging me to use photography and other media to help communicate my ideas when I am unable to throw clay.
